Project:

Prince George / Lloydminster Late Gasoline Project

Project Duration:

August 2004 - December 2004

In 2004, Husky approached PROJEX for its expertise in executing fast track retro-fit projects. Due to the late start of the low sulphur fuels initiative at the Prince George refinery, this project became necessary to facilitate the transfer of high sulphur products between the Prince George refinery and the Lloydminster upgrader.

As part of the scoping exercise, PROJEX completed a utilization study of the existing Prince George rail and truck loading/off loading facilities and determined that a new loading facility would be required for this short term project.

The design of the new facilities required consideration for long term use and coordination with a number of neighbors and stakeholders. The detailed design and construction window was only three months.

The project scope included the addition of a new truck/rail loading rack complete with a deluge fire protection system, two new rail spurs and 1,100 lineal-feet of above ground interconnecting piperack.

In addition, a vapor recovery system including a temporary blower and thermal oxidizer was designed for an existing API storage tank, converted to gasoline storage.

The project also included the design, procurement and installation of several sales and transfer pumps and miscellaneous underground drain tanks.
